Your house, needs to be put in order too …

A whirlwind of mundane life events bowled over the Worm Gear crew last week, but we are back once again with relentless wordsmithing for your extreme edification. Yes, in between Marty, Jake, and I avoiding hometown fruity festivals and our hauling of unending cardboard boxes, time has been found and spent upon a vinyl release of Lucifericon’s black/death latest, the exceedingly polarizing return of Black Sabbath, the heathen menace of Sivyj Yar, and raw heavy metal of Arkhamin Kirjasto. When all has been read and done, you’ll have new music to love/hate/shrug about as you watch bombs burst in air in celebration of America’s Finger to the King day. Enjoyous! Also, don’t forget comment/post playlists/digitally shout back at Marty; Jake and I find it oddly comforting …

  3. Zahler playlist—
–WWIII WWIII Vinny Appice = King of the Pocket. The tastiest drummer ever. If you can take the cartoonish lead singing—which sounds like Battlezone Di’Anno and Udo Dirkshnieder strangling each other while Eric Adams screams—the deep pockets on here are amazing. Basically, 3/4 of the Dio band with whacked out Mandy Lion singing. An acquired taste that most won’t acquire.
–Witchmaster Sadomasochistic (Inferno of Behemoth on drums. My favorite Aura Noir album, though this is not by Aura Noir. Terrific energy.)
–Blasphemophager The Ill Command of Absulute Chaos (my favorite Angel Corpse record, though this is not by Angel Corpse. Great vibe and sound.)
    –Daft Punk Random Access Memory
    –Ghost BC Infestissumam
–Craniotomy Supply of Flesh Just Came In
    –Gutfucked Fucked to Death
–Thin Lizzy Vagabonds of the Western World (Deluxe Edition. Sitamoia!)
–Black Sabbath Eternal Idol (Deluxe Edition with the better Ray Gillen version. Better vocals and more aggressive drumming throughout.)

  4. and for a taste of greatness…

  5. That’s a pretty killer song and guitar sound! I’ve never been called to THin Lizzy for the “hits” make me angry, but everything else you have played for me has been really interesting. There is a used LP store here in town with a bunch of TL vinyl…. any suggestions on what I should give a try? And S…. we are long overdue on catching up….. maybe tonight I will give a ring. Sunday may be better.

  6. Rytkonen–
Not sure I’ll be around, but go ahead and try when free.

As for Thin Lizzy, Thunder and Lightning is where you want to start. It’s their most aggressive and also their best– Sykes is on fire throughout. Bad Reputation is not my second favorite, but the one I think you will like second best—certainly Soldier of Fortune is gorgeous and regal and will grab you, and Opium Trail is one of their best songs ever. Then go for Chinatown, which has Genocide (The Killing of the Buffalo), Sugar Blues, the title cut and lots of great counterpoint vocals (Hey You).

After those three, Jailbreak has some songs you won’t like (Boys are Back in Town), but also Emerald, which you really enjoyed and is incredible, and Warrior and Cowboy Song. And the Gorham solo in Romeo and The Lonely Girl is just a beautiful story. This album and Black Rose will have stuff you adore, but I’m not sure how some of the mellower tunes and ballads will sit with you.
