Claimed by claw of Ursa / Sigil etched through flesh and bone…

A cool breath of air is gracing the lands of Worm Gear this week; a welcome respite from the heat, and a refreshing change of mind and weather. Summer is passing quickly (maybe a little too quickly), and a drought of rain is mirroring a drought of new music… We still stagger with reviews for Pantheon of Blood and Infera Bruo from Jim and Marty.

How are you weathering this dry spell? Revisiting old classics? Catching up on albums from this spring or the past year? Is there something amazing that’s flown under our radars? Keep the comments rolling and share your thoughts with us!

  1. Arntor! Fucking brilliant!

Been playing a lot of Burzum (that last one sure grows with time) to mentally support Varg in his struggles with the french police (such a load of bullshit, read his Thulean Perspective blog about this AND about his shame for his orange underpants AND a totally cute picture of his daughter).

    Apart from that:
Deafheaven – Sunbather. Fucking intense, hipster or not.
    Mutilation Rites – Empyrean
    Woe – Withdrawal
    Woe – Quietly, Undramatically
    John Lee Hooker – Anthology

  2. Lately:

    Atheist – Unquestionable Presence
    Banished From Inferno – Minotaur
Beyond – Fatal Power Of Death
    first 3 Bathory
Cancer – The Sins of Mankind
Christicide – Upheaval of the Soul
Cloak Of Altering – Ancient Paths Through Timeless Voids
    Craft – Total Soul Rape
    Dispirit – 111112
Gnaw Their Tongues – L’Arrivée de la Terne Mort Triomphante
    Immortalis – Indicium De Mortuis
Körgull the Exterminator – Metal Fist Destroyer
    Lantern – Below
    Morne – Shadows
    Pentacle – …Rides the Moonstorm
Pentacle – Under the Black Cross
Perdition Temple – Edict Of The Antichrist Elect
    Seth – The Howling Spirit

  3. That Banished From Inferno is great! Plus dutch heroes Pentacle, vey well chosen sir!

I have ordered Fatal Power Of Death a couple of days ago (again, summer sale at NWN!, check it out), what do you think of it?

  4. I really like it…I just haven’t had the time yet to fully absorb it. I’ll probably be giving it a few more spins over the next couple of days.

  5. Beyond’s Fatal Power of Death is the best DM album I have heard this year so far. It is f’ing amazing.

  6. I’ve been playing pretty much nothing but that Timeghoul collection, such a cool band

  7. New Gorguts too…which is not exactly an album you want to listen to while doing 10 other things. One has to concentrate on it…

  8. Really want to hear that new Gorguts. I like what I have heard from it so far.

Arch/Matheos – Sympathetic Resonance (hard to believe this is almost 2 years old already)
    Cryptopsy – Whisper Supremacy
    Iron Maiden – 7th Son
Iron Maiden – Maiden Japan (entire concert)
Sacramentum – The Coming of Chaos
    COC – Animosity
Amon Amarth – Deceiver of the Gods
    Godflesh – Streetcleaner
