We’re here to burn up the night!
A mountain of music is looming over the Worm compound as we shudder beneath it’s fearful shadow. But we have emerged once again clinging to a glimmer of light to offer up yet another session of critiques for you to peruse. Zahler has returned for a flyby and several reviews as well while Jake is focusing on moving. As our lives continue to be busy and complicated, the pleasure of sharing our thoughts with the class forever remains an honor and we’re thankful for all of you who choose to take the time to see what we have to offer. Many ideas continue to stir here and the passion to carry them out is forever at the forefront of our thoughts. In time…
Until then, keep sharing those playlists and secret smiles. -Marty

Time to rejoice; the new Seidr is up for pre-order! I´ve played For Winter Fire earlier today to celebrate…
Apart from that one:
Purtenance – Member of Immortal Damnation
Purtenance – Sacrifice the King EP. Blunt, simple and vile as old school finnish death can be. Looking forward to their new one.
Demilich – Nespithe
Demigod – Slumber of Swollen Eyes
Demigod – Let Chaos Prevail. Not bad, but nowhere near in quality (and sound/style) to Slumber…
Convulse – World Without God
Black Sabbath – All the Ozzy albums. Technical Ecstasy and Never Say Die deserve more credit than they usually get in my opinion. Of course they’re nowhere near classic Sabbath but still… The change of style that blossomed on the Dio albums started on these two I think.
Lustre – Wonder
Lustre – Lost in Lustrous Night Skies
Primordial – The Gathering Wilderness
Primordial – To the Nameless Dead. Shit, why did I take so long to check this band out?! Fucking brilliant. Like the ghost of Thin Lizzy playing black metal with the bastard son of Angry Anderson and Martin Walkyier on vocals, so incredibly passionate he can barely stay in tune. Epic!
Props to Craig this week; Stormwarrior is a personal fave that shows what Helloween could’ve done if they’d never crossed paths with Michael Kiske, and WWIII is quite the forgotten blast form the past. I remember buying that cassette tape at an Indiana record store back when it was released. “A time, a time, a time for terror….”. Hadn’t thought of that album in ages, but soon as I saw the jpeg in the review my brain screamed “Mandy Lion!!!!”. The epitome of albums that are fun ony if you turn your brain off (mch like pro wrestling).
Looking forward to hearing the new Seidr; gonna check out the Gauntlet stream tomorrow.
Just got the new ATLANTEAN KODEX The White FGoddess’. First impression is another immaculate slab of thoughtful, epic, doomy, greatness. t IS my playlist this week.

UA – your thoughts on the Oranssi Pazuzu? I’ve only heard one track so far, seemed intriguing but wasn’t sure if I should explore further …
I like it…but I’ve only listened to it once with my attention divided. IMO they mixed their chosen styles with taste and skill, it went down smooth. Nothing groundbreaking or incredibly vigorous/exciting but it didn’t offend and I’ll surely put it on again…
Thanks for your response, UA. I’ll have to give this one more time. I’m really enjoying Inferno’s take on psych-black metal right now…
